This is one of my favorites for late summer and early fall when local peaches are in season. There is a bit of prep involved, but the results are definitely worth it. So let’s get started.

Here is a quick and easy side dish. I used beet greens here, but any greens would do such as turnip greens, collard greens, or mustard greens. Note that I put a lot of pictures in the post for how easy this recipe is, but every bit helps right? lol.

This recipe for grilled chops and plums I got from Sunset Magazine and modified it somewhat. It called for brown sugar which truly I feel is not necessary. The plums and sweet onions add plenty of sweetness.

Here is a great “comfort food” recipe. I have never actually made a Shepherd’s Pie before and was giving myself a big pat on the back as it turned out incredible and even got a huge thumbs up from the kids! I have had this with cauliflower mashed “potatoes” on the top before, but I actually liked this with the sweet potatoes a bit better, but either is an option. This is a great way to use up some veggies in your fridge so you don’t have to stick with the ingredients I have listed here.

I have three tiny apple trees in my yard. They are too small yet to produce fruit. Maybe I would have gotten a few apples this year if the deer hadn’t taken a few (understatement) nibbles? I don’t know. Hopefully they will be more established next year and the deer will stay away? I can dream, right? So, I need some apples to make applesauce. What is a girl to do? Get on Facebook and make an announcement, that’s what! Therefore, because of Uncle John and my friend Jim down at the gym, I was able to get some nice, crisp apples for my applesauce. They in return get some applesauce and/or a delicious apple treat like crisp or pie (you just keep this in mind for next year if you are finding yourself with some apples you want to part with)

Have you ever tried coconut butter? It is so incredibly tasty that I thought about just posting a recipe that calls for one jar of coconut butter and a spoon, take a bite, repeat.
But, since I feel like I have to actually eat it with something, I came up with this satisfying treat.

The flavors of lemon, sesame, thyme, and paprika can all be found individually in different recipes for lighter meats and fish. Here, we’ll use them together in a Middle Eastern blend known as za’atar to create a fast and easy wet rub for grilled pork loin.
