This recipe comes to us from our friend Sonya. This dish is perfect to bring for a potluck just about any time, or to make and keep in the fridge for several servings over the course of a week.

Last weekend, Karen and I stopped by Lapellah, a local restaurant here in Vancouver with an awesome (and often changing) menu that features lots of fresh local ingredients, including produce from April Joy Farm (the same one we use for our CSA). On the menu were Brussels sprouts that were roasted with sour cherries, which sounded both interesting and tasty. We got some to share as a side, and proceeded to devour them. We also decided we better figure out how to imitate them at home, because we wanted to have them again soon. Real soon…

This recipe was originally part of the Braised Pork Chops recipe, but is worthy of separating it all by itself. Try them as a snack, a tasty dessert, or as a side along any of the pork recipes we’ve got on here.
Here is our version of onion rings. It has potential to make a bit of a mess, but is a fun one to let the kids help with and totally worth it!

This recipe is my new favorite side. We used baby leeks, but you can use regular size too. They have a similar taste to green onions. Leeks add great flavor to your meat when chopped up and used in a marinade too.

With berry season in full throttle here in the Pacific Northwest, we love to come up with different recipes to use them in. This salsa can be used as a side or as a topping on your salad. Prep time is about 10 minutes.
